Brief Description

A stylish, affordable head turner with bags of personality, a car that became a classic in its own time - a Capri esq model is sorely missed in Ford's current range.

Reliability

In the years that I have owned the car and the 28,000 miles that I covered not once did the car fail to get me home. Keep the car regularly serviced and it will return excellent reliability.

Performance

The 1600 Capris are not the fastest but 100 mph is achievable and cruising at 70 mph in fifth gear is more than comfortable. This is a big and reasonably heavy car so the outright performance is not that great - if you want outright performance chose the V6.

Practicality

Four seats and a reasonable sized boot make this car a practical proposition.

Comfort

The car is well trimmed with deep thick carpets, padded door trim and comfortable seats. Wind noise only becomes an annoyance at speeds over 90 Mph.

Cost

The Capri is cheap to insure and service. Parts are readily available and cheap, in fact purchasing original Ford parts for consumables are cheaper than Halfords or most Auto Factors. The only bugbear is that bodywork items are becoming increasingly expensive.

Fun and sporty with a classic shape, buy a good one and the car will serve you well.

Mine is sorely missed.
